Jean Smith is an amazing artist from Canada. Writer, Novelist, Vocalist, Painter, Graphic Designer, Lecturer, Band Manager, Publicist, Booking Agent, Event Organizer, Museum Founder & Curator…
Vocalist in the critically acclaimed literary rock duo Mecca Normal, Jean Smith was named one of the “Top 50 Writers in Vancouver” (Vancouver Magazine), one of the “Top Ten People Who Matter” (Evelyn McDonnell, San Francisco Weekly) and “one of Canada’s best-kept secrets in the arts” by the Globe and Mail. Jean Smith is the author of two published novels I Can Hear Me Fine (Get To The Point Editions, 1993) and The Ghost of Understanding (Arsenal Pulp Press, 1998).
She studied painting at the Vancouver School of Art before forming the underground rock duo Mecca Normal in 1984. She also is a published novelist represented by the Carolyn Swayze Literary Agency, and a two-time recipient of Canada Council for the Arts awards.
