Ironic illustrations by Diego Mallo
Diego Mallo is a visual artist and illustrator based in Barcelona who works for editorial, press, commercial and children’s illustration. He gained a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, and completed his studies in the UK (Exeter, Winchester and Brighton Universities).
His illustrations, often tinged with a sharp irony, lead one to read between the lines. Interdisciplinary experimentation defines his style, from naturalistic drawing to visual poetry, photo illustration or paper sculptures.
He has worked for Penguin Random House, Die Zeit, Planeta (Seix Barral, Crítica), Unicef, McGraw-Hill, Hachette Filipacchi, Ediciones Glénat, Continental Animación, La Galera, Run Design, l’Arsa Montserrat, and Castellnou among others. His work has been published in international magazines as Zeit Literatur, Novum, Rooms, Ammo, etc. and he has recently been featured in 3X3 Illustration Directory 2014, New York.
