Underwater self-portraits by Noriko Yabu

Of all natural elements, water is the one associated with feminine, creative, and emotional qualities. That’s probably why Japanese artist Noriko Yabu created a series called “Suisou” (another myself) where she developed a very original style of nude self-portraits. The question is about the real identity of the artist, a difficult question for people around her but for the artist herself too. Nationality, gender, reputation, occupation, education, rumors, how are we classified ? Also Noriko Yabu wanted to show a distorted image of herself with various expressions under laying under the surface.
