Inspired by Goldsprints, “UrbanDaddy Cycling Classic” is a 60 second head to head bike race installation created for the 2011 Escape To New York Music and Arts Festival. Collaborating with Art Director Zander Brimijoin, Ayaka Ito created particles and a spirit animal that would appear and follow the riders once they biked at the maximum speed. As the riders biked further, the background environment that was projected behind them changed. The faster the cyclists, the more creatures they unlockedhand-drawn using colored pencil and digitally scanned.
